The property
The Lime Ridge House is an important witness to Dudswell’s mining history. It once housed a lime interpretation center, where visitors could learn about the mining of this precious mineral. Its name, which means “lime ridge”, pays tribute to this natural resource, which played a key role in the development of the region.
Although the center closed in summer 2018, the house continues to tell its story. The Miner’s Gardens, located around the cottage, offer a peaceful space steeped in memory, where you can still feel the imprint of Dudswell’s industrial past. The site is also ideal for family picnics, thanks to its outdoor facilities.
Come and explore this unique site and immerse yourself in a fascinating page of our local heritage!
